Please join our church family for one of our Christmas Eve services celebrating the joy of the season and the birth of our Lord!

Noon in Jubilee Hall: A service of music and carols with a Jazz twist.

2 p.m. in the Sanctuary: Carols, candlelight and children’s Nativity tableau.

4 p.m. in Jubilee Hall: Casual, contemporary, acoustic.

6 p.m. in the Sanctuary: Carols, candlelight and children’s Nativity tableau.

8 p.m. in the Sanctuary: Choir, carols, candlelight, and Holy Communion.

11 p.m. in the Sanctuary: Choir, carols, candlelight, and Holy Communion.

Purchase Poinsettias or Wreaths to Decorate the Church

Poinsettias are $20 each, and wreaths are $30 each. Click here to order online or send a check to the church along with the name of the person you are honoring/remembering. Order by December 9. Dedications will be shared in the December 18 worship bulletin.

Youth Christmas Tree Lot

If you pre-ordered your Christmas tree, wreath, or garland from our youth, pick up your order at the tree lot on Friday, December 2, 12-8 p.m. or Saturday, December 3, 9-11 a.m. If you did not pre-order, you are welcome to come browse our limited available inventory.

Advent with Kids: Author Book Signing

9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Church member and author Wendy Wallace-Wright will sign copies of her book Advent with Kids in the lobby of the Parish Life Building. Books are available for purchase in Goodness Gracious. Wendy also shares suggestions from her book in a recent episode of the Beyond Baptism podcast. Click here to listen.

Advent Study Groups

Prepare to receive Christ this Advent with the message of John the Baptist. We are reading and studying Adam Hamilton’s Prepare the Way for the Lord. This four-week series meets in person and online. Click here for details.

Advent Labyrinth

November 30-December 21, Francis Chapel: During this season of waiting, come to the labyrinth for a uniquely prayerful experience. A special setting and printed materials are available to guide you in a walk of preparation for Christmas. Please call 704-376-8584 before coming to the church to ensure Francis Chapel is available for your walk.

The Alternative Gift Market is back with a hybrid format! Click here to shop online to make donations directly to partner agencies. If you need shopping assistance, come see us in the lobby of the Parish Life Building December 11 and December 18 from 9 a.m. to noon, and we will help facilitate your giving. Come honor friends and families with gifts that support our community partners and neighbors around the world.

Music Ministry Christmas Concert

4 p.m. and 6 p.m., First United Methodist Church: Join us for our annual Christmas Concert featuring our Adult Choirs, Children’s Choir, Youth Bells, and Orchestra. No reservations or tickets are required. A shuttle service will run between Myers Park UMC and First Methodist UMC beginning at 3 p.m. The offering will benefit Roof Above.

Service of Hope and Consolation

6:30 p.m., Sanctuary: For those who have suffered loss, the holidays can be especially challenging. Join us for this service of remembrance and healing.

The Merry Market

Shop for and volunteer at The Merry Market, which provides an empowering opportunity for parents to select and buy gifts for their children at discounted prices. This year, we are providing gifts for 400 children served by ourBRIDGE for Kids and Refugee Support Services. We cannot do it without your generous donations and support! 4 p.m., Jubilee Hall: Join us for this annual service of story and song. Children may dress as their favorite nativity character.

Love Feast

6 p.m., Sanctuary: Everyone is invited to this youth-led worship service featuring spiced tea and Moravian buns.

A Service of Lessons and Carols

8:30, 9:45, and 11 a.m., Sanctuary: Join us for the story of the coming of Christ featuring our Chancel Choir, Chamber Singers, and da Capo Brass.

Christmas in Word and Song

8:45 a.m., Jubilee Hall: Join us for a contemporary telling of the coming of Christ featuring our Church in the Round Worship Team.

Christmas Day Service

Join us at 11 a.m. on Christmas morning.

New Year’s Day Services

Join us in the first worship services of the New Year at 8:30, 8:45, 9:45, and 11 a.m. 

December 25 and January 1 are Family Worship Days. Children’s Sunday School and Youth Starting Point will not meet. Families are encouraged to worship together. The building is not open December 26-27 and January 2 in observance of the holidays.

Support Children Through the Angel Tree

The Prison Fellowship Ministry Angel Tree™ program is back with in-person delivery and virtual options. In-person delivery: Groups of angels, paired by caregiver, are available to select in the Parish Life Building lobby. Select one or more children and buy the gifts or gift cards on the list. Call the caregiver and arrange a time to deliver the items to them by December 16. Virtual: Visit the Angel Tree website to see virtual tags with the names of children assigned to our church. Browse through the tags, select the child(ren) you want to sponsor, and click Checkout. Email Doug Caldwell at dougcaldwell@bellsouth.net with any questions.
